A Christmas message from the mayor of Eastbourne, Carolyn Heaps

DURING my time as Mayor this year, I have been amazed at how many volunteers there are among us in Eastbourne.

I am heartened to know there are so many caring people, who give their time and expertise to help those in need.

I have met many at various times and want to thank you for all you do to help make our town a really special place to live.

At the council we have been busy this year working to change the culture, enabling things to happen and encouraging all people around the town to fulfil their potential.

We aspire to achieve a ‘can do’ attitude where Eastbourne is concerned, so everyone can aim to be the very best they can be, in whatever they choose to do.

This will ensure Eastbourne continues to be a fabulous place to live, whether young or old.

At this special time of year, please consider those among us who may not be as fortunate.

A kind word, a surprise gift, or meal for a lonely, ill or bereaved neighbour or stranger would really show our love and care for one another in a practical way.

I believe this is what Christmas is really about and I would like to wish you all a really Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year with every blessing.
