People across Sussex have been seeing strange objects in the sky.
Strange lights were spotted in land from Norman's Bay, a UFO was sighted over Battle on Wednesday and a mystery light was seen hovering over Cross in Hand.

Nicholas Munro of Norman's Bay made the sighting on Saturday night (November 17).

He said, "I first noticed them around 9pm and drew my wife's attention to them.

"They were still there at around 11 pm when I went to bed.

"They appeared to be a group of faint lights either in or above the low cloud rotating very rapidly in a horizontal circular clockwise direction.

"Either that or a group of lights being projected from something which was itself rotating rapidly in a clockwise direction."

Meanwhile Ann Drake of Battle said she spotted a UFO over the town this morning (November 21).

She said, "My window has a clear view east over fields. I noticed this incredibly bright light just hanging there in front of the clouds.

"It was too bright and in the wrong place to be a morning star.

"I had a cup of tea and went to pull the bedroom curtains ten minutes later and it was still there, just hanging stationary. Then I noticed a red light and it accelerated away at incredible speed.

"Whatever it was could not have been that far away as it was in front of the clouds.

"I have never seen anything like that before but am keeping an open mind."

In Cross in Hand a mystery light was spotted by local resident Lynnda Rose.

She said, "I was out with my dog and noticed a light above the field moving in a circular motion.

"I can only describe it as looking like an oval, thick mist which was quite bright."

"I've never seen anything like it before and can find no explanation."

Have you witnessed anything strange in the sky over the last week? Do you know what any of these objects might have been?

Night watcher,

Polegate 21/11/2007 20:55:22
I too saw the lights. It appeared to be lighting up a cloud but rotating at the same time. I have seen similar lights from the same direction in the past and thought it was something to do with the Observatory, maybe some sort of science lesson. I will certainly be interested in further comments.

E Parkman,

Eastbourne 22/11/2007 19:03:33
My wife and I were going out on Saturday night, from Eastbourne, at about 9.15. Going up the A22 we first noticed the lights about halfway between the Cophall roundabout and the South Road roundabout. The lights appeared as a faintish patch on the low cloud at on the right hand side of our windscreen. The light was wavering about and rotating and appeared to rise and fall. We thought it was someone in the car behind us with a laser torch, or disco type lights from Hailsham. The lights stayed in the same position and seemed to be following us. At the Boship roundabout the car following us overtook and went towards Heathfield, whilst we turned down the Dicker. As there are street lights on the Dicker we saw nothing more of the wavering lights. We turned off the Dicker at Nash Street and there, in exactly the same place in the windscreen were the lights! I stopped the car and turned off the lights to see if it was a reflection and the wavering light remained where it was. Opening the window there was no sound just the lights. By this time we had had enough! I turned the car around and we drove home. Once again the lights followed us and we lost sight of them when we reached the street lighting at Polegate. We thought we were alone in our 'UFO' experience until we saw this report today.

Alex Thomas,

Mayfield 02/12/2007 19:55:22
At about 8pm, in Mayfield, two friends and I saw an extremely bright white light flash from the clouds about once every two minutes for at least an hour. The flashes lasted for under a second and it up the entire surrounding area. They also appeared to be moving left to right and higher and lower. The flashes were not directly over Mayfield but in the distance. The flashes did not have any sound. Very strange.
