THE UNION Flag will fly high above Eastbourne Town Hall every day in the future rather that on certain chosen days in the year.
Leader of Eastbourne Borough Council Ian Lucas said, "It's about time we flew the Union Flag on a permanent basis at the Town Hall.
"A strong nation is proud of its heritage, and flying our flag is a sign of that. In my recent survey 100 per cent of respondents said they wanted to see this as a permanent feature – frankly I'm surprised it hasn't happened before."
The council will continue to fly other flags on days specified by the Home Office and will, when necessary, fly the flag at half mast as a mark of respect. (c)
