A POLEGATE councillor has said he is pleased to see a street in Polegate has been resurfaced after a 'long delay'.
Resurfacing work was carried out in Brook Street in June and a spokesperson for East Sussex County Council has said that is when it was scheduled to take place.

The work was carried out to improve the pavement and to provide an even surface for people to walk on.

Councillor Roy Martin said he first wrote to residents 'years ago' telling them the county council had agreed to resurface the pavements.

Cllr Martin added, "An added bonus was that since cars were not able to park whilst the work was being carried out, staff of Wealden District Council arrived with their wonderful gutter cleaning machine so the long suffering residents also got their gutters cleared out."

A county council spokesperson said, "We have a rolling programme of works throughout the year to maintain and improve the roads and pavements in East Sussex."
