An Eastbourne couple are celebrating after scooping £2,367,330 in Saturday night's Lotto draw.
John and Jacqui Pinyoun matched all six numbers to win a share in the jackpot.

The jubilant couple, who live at Langney Point, bought the Lucky Dip ticket at the News Rack in Beatty Road.

They were eating cod and chips and watching the draw on television when 61-year-old John realised he had matched all six lucky numbers.

"We were watching the Lotto draw eating cod and chips like we do every week," said John, a branch manager at Parkers Building Supplies in Uckfield and also the treasurer at Eastbourne United Football Club.

"The first three balls were drawn and I said to Jacqui that we'd won £10. Then the fourth, fifth and sixth numbers were drawn and we had them all! We couldn't believe it, we were so excited we couldn't finish our dinner and put the rest of it in the bin!

"We didn't leave the house all evening. We just phoned some close family members and told them the good news. That evening I put the ticket in my dressing table drawer which is right next to my bed as I didn't want to let it out of my sight."

The couple toasted their win today at Eastbourne's Grand Hotel where they were presented with their cheque.

John and 58-year-old Jacqui, who works for Goldsmiths Jewellers in Terminus Road, are already planning how to celebrate their win with a wish list which includes a new Mini convertible for Jacqui at the top of the list, and a holiday to New Zealand to visit old friends is also on the cards.

The couple, who have three sons Gary, Matthew, and Martyn and three grandchildren, won with the numbers, 11, 17, 28, 31, 40, 43.

John added, "This is a really exciting win, not just for us but the rest of the family especially our three grown up children as we want to look after them just as they have looked after us over the years."

John is a well-known figure on the local sporting scene, having been a leading member of the former Shinewater FC which merged with Eastbourne Utd.

I read with delight the article about my cousin, Jacqui and her husband, John winning the lottery. I and my Mother are from Eastbourne and we keep in touch with our relatives by mail and visits. We were called on Sunday with their exciting news. It could not have happened to a lovelier couple and we are all very happy for them.
