A SLEEP-OUT is taking place in Eastbourne to raise awareness of the numbers of people sleeping rough in the town.

It has been organised by the Salvation Army in Eastbourne and a team of volunteers will be sleeping rough on the night of Tuesday January 13.
The aim is to raise awareness of the number of people sleeping rough and the insecurely housed population
in Eastbourne, which includes those living in temporary bed and breakfast accommodation and people who sofa surf, the term used to describe people who stay with friends because they have nowhere to live.
Various partnership organisations have been invited to join in. The night will start with a meal at the Salvation Army Citadel in Langney Road before the volunteers make their way into the town centre to find a spot to sleep under the stars.
Those taking part have been told to wear warm clothing and bring sleeping bags, cardboard and a flask.
Each week volunteers at the Salvation Army in Eastbourne cook a hot meal for members of the town's homeless community.
More than 60 people attend on a Tuesday and Thursday evening for the two-course meal and as many also collect sandwiches and tea from the Langney Road citadel on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings.
