A ROYAL Mail worker is on his way to the Crown Court over allegations he stole post.
Richard George Edward Knowles, 32, of Pride View, Stone Cross, faces three charges of theft and a further charge of delaying or opening a postal packet or mailbag.

The prosecution is being brought against Knowles by the Royal Mail and he appeared before district judge Roger Ede sitting at Eastbourne on Friday morning.

Knowles, who pleaded not guilty to the charges at an earlier hearing, was formally committed to the Crown Court for trial by the judge.

His next appearance at the crown court will be on August 15. He was granted unconditional bail.
