A GROUP of travellers with vans and caravans was moved on from a seafront car park by police and council officials this week.

A member of public raised the alarm when they saw the group crossing the kerbstones to avoid the height restriction barrier at the Fisherman's Green car park just after 11am on Wednesday morning.
Police and council officials went to the scene with a legal notice to move the group on.
The travellers, believed to have come from the Brighton area, told officers they were only planning to stay until the weekend but they were escorted out of the borough and are believed to have made their way to Kent.
A council spokesperson said, "We are very grateful to the member of staff concerned in raising the alarm and for the very positive support of the police in having the travellers removed from a public open space."
