Nathan, and partner Kirsty, appeared live on the BBC1 show on Saturday and won the unanimous support of the judges, who voted to keep them in.
Nathan, 26, also won the vote of the public, who get the chance to keep three out of the five successful couples, to appear in the finals of the show, which is hosted by Graham Norton.
The Stagecoach dance teacher will be moving into a mansion with the nine other successful couples next week, after the third preliminary round.
He won his place with an 80s jazz routine performed to the music of Fame.
Nathan, of South Street, admitted he was nervous appearing on the show.
But he is now battling it out against eight other couples for the chance to win £50,000.
Nathan teaches dance to local youngsters at Stagecoach at Ocklynge School and has appeared on stage for am-dram groups including EODS' production of A Little Night Music back in November.
His speciality is jazz and street jazz and he comes from a family who love to dance, describing his mum as a 'wicked jiver'.
Although the prize for the winner is an impressive £50,000, Nathan said entering the competition was 'never about the money'.
'I am a big fan of Strictly Come Dancing and when I saw the advert for this show at the end of the series, I just thought why not?'
