A MAN was injured after jumping from Eastbourne Pier on Thursday afternoon.
Eastbourne lifeboat had been launched to pick up two canoeists whose kayak had overturned in Pevensey Bay.
One was taken to hospital for treatment and the lifeboat was then diverted to rescue the man.
He was dragged out of the water and treated by paramedics.
Police had this week warned of the dangers of 'tombstoning' - leaping into the sea from piers or low cliffs.
