A FORMER council rent arrears officer has appeared in court accused of stealing thousands of pounds of rent payments from Hailsham tenants.
Christine Elizabeth Buckingham, 40, did not enter a plea at Eastbourne magistrates court on Wednesday and her case was adjourned.
Buckingham worked for Wealden District Council when the alleged offences occured, between April 2006 and September 2007. The amount of money allegedly taken is believed to be around £3,000.
Buckingham, formerly of Compton Street, Eastbourne, now lives in Pevensey Road, St Leonards.
She will appear before Eastbourne magistrates again on June 18.
