BRAIN tumour survivor Lucy Sheppard will jump from a plane at 10,000 feet on Saturday (March 20) to raise money for brain tumour research.
Lucy, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in April 2009, and her friend Hazel Akehurst, both from Eastbourne, are joining more than 20 other fundraisers in Brain Tumour UK's skydiving event at Brackley airfield in Oxfordshire.
Lucy, 29 and Hazel, 28, are supporting Brain Tumour UK as they want to help other people affected by brain tumours.
Lucy, a health care assistant, said, "I had a brain tumour last April and I became really ill. I had to have an operation and was in hospital for 15 days. They managed to remove the tumour and I now have the all clear so I wanted to help other people.
"We saw the skydive on Brain Tumour UK's website and decided to sign up for it. Hazel has been an amazing friend and said yes straightaway when I showed her what I had planned.
"I am nervous and excited and looking forward to raising lots of money," added Lucy, who has a seven-year-old son Nathan with partner Joe.
