THOUSANDS of Eastbourne residents may be without water this morning due to a burst water main in Polegate.

South East Water has confirmed a leak in a 24 inch main occurred about 6.30am this morning in Wannock Road.
Homes in Polegate, Stone Cross, Westham and Pevensey may have no water or low water pressure, and the Herald understands residents as far as Sovereign Harbour have been affected by the burst main and were without water, and Polegate School is closed due to the burst main.
Inspectors arrived at the site to undertake emergency repairs and the main was shut off to prevent further flooding to nearby properties in Wannock Road.
A spokesperson for South East water said, "As well as starting to undertake emergency repairs to the section of burst main, we are currently looking to re-zone water supplies round other parts of our water main network to restore supplies to most homes in these areas."
