A DRUG addict who continually breached a community penalty has had her order revoked and been sentenced to two days in custody.
Claire South, of Watermill Close, Polegate, appeared before the town's magistrates on Monday (July 14) and admitted the breach after a warrant was issued for her arrest.

The court heard the 25-year-old, who was given a community sentence for theft and two counts of possession of class A drugs, had only attended one appointment with probation.

Maxine Buck, defending, explained South had recently been a victim of crime and been made homeless as a result.

"These incidents have had a profound affect on her life," said Ms Buck.

"She has also been quite unwell from her drug use as she has an abscess in her mouth which was extremely swollen when she was arrested and she has been receiving antibiotics while in custody."

Presiding magistrate, John Berryman, said South had shown a 'consistent and blatant disregard' for the court order.

She was sentenced to two days in custody, which was taken as served. The original order was revoked.
