A MAN accused of stealing more than £20,000 of books from Gardners Books appeared before the town's magistrates on Thursday.

Ross Shand, 27, entered no plea to the offence of stealing £22,961.49 worth of books from his employer.
He appeared in the dock with 26-year-old Jakki Shand who denied handling stolen goods.
The pair, of Old London Road, Hastings, are alleged to have committed the offences between July 2007 and January 2008.
Magistrates adjourned the case until June 26 when it will be committed to Crown Court.
