Police are offering a £500 reward to find a man wanted following a serious assault in Eastbourne when a woman was punched and kicked.

The 20-year-old woman was assaulted in her flat in Viking Way on the Kingsmere Estate in October.

Police say that the woman sustained serious facial and body injuries consistent with having been punched and kicked. They are treating the assault as grievous bodily arm.

Sussex Police have twice made appeals to find 32-year-old Devon Newell. Now a £500 reward has been offered for for any information which leads to the arrest of South Londoner, who originally comes from Peckham.

Newell, who is also known as “D” or “Devlin”, has several connection in Eastbourne, and following recent appeals police say there have been sightings of him in the Eastbourne area.

The Metropolitan Police are also helping in the search for him, but police believe Newell is most likely still in the Eastbourne area but he is known to travel across Sussex.

Newell is described as black, 6ft tall, of slim build, with cropped hair and a goatee beard.

PC Dan Cloake, Operations Co-ordinator for Eastbourne, said: “We have released details of this man before, however it has still not led to his arrest.

“It is imperative that we locate him so he can be questioned in relation to the incident that happened in October.

“We are now offering this reward for any information that leads to his arrest.

“I would urge the public to report any sightings of Newell immediately to Sussex Police on 999.

“If anyone has information as to his current whereabouts then you can contact Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial 1090 of 20/12, or by contacting Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
