A COUPLE from Eastbourne whose baby underwent life-saving bowel surgery handed over £1,000 to the specialist unit which cared for her.
Joanne and Delso Da Silva’s daughter Alicia was born severely prematurely and weighing only 1.9lbs.
She, along with her twin brother Alfie, were rushed to the Trevor Mann Baby Unit in Brighton.
Despite the efforts of the medical team, Alfie later died.
Alicia spent months in intensive care and was finally allowed to return home in April.
TILES and roofs came off homes as mini-tornadoes swept through parts of Eastbourne.
December also saw the heaviest snowfall for decades, causing chaos on the roads and icy pavements throughout the town.
