This week, as it's New Years Eve, it's time for my 2008 predictions…
Eastbourne
The Save the DGH campaign will continue, and will mount a series of challenges to the decisions taken by the PCT, which will have some limited success.

The post offices that are threatened with closure, will close, and the consultation will be ignored (again)

Eastbourne Borough FC will win the Blue Square (South) League. Lewes will be runners up. Brighton will make the play offs in League One.

Eastbourne Tennis week will get a reprieve, a new sponsor will be found, and the tournament will continue.

A major, chart topping band will play Eastbourne.

Local Council
Parking in Eastbourne will continue to be a shambles.

There will be a by-election on Eastbourne Borough Council

The council tax rise will be above the rate of inflation.

The Cultural Centre will finally open, following a further delay

The fragile economy will effect the developers confidence in the Town Centre redevelopment project.

The council will attempt to charge visitors for Airbourne.

Nationally (and Internationally)
Rudy Giuliani will become US President

Boris Johnson will become Mayor of London

Gordon Brown's government will struggle from one disaster to another, and will not regain credibility, falling a consistent 15 points behind David Cameron's Conservatives in the polls. Nick Clegg will oversee a slight, but short lived rise in Libdem fortunes.

Prince William will get engaged to Kate Middleton.

Rhydian will be a much bigger star than Leon.

Eastenders will continue to be the most over-rated and boring programme on TV

And finally, when I was putting this list together last week, I predicted Michael Parkinson would get a knighthood – by Saturday it had been confirmed that he would! So I've changed that one – I now predict that Bruce Forsyth will become 'Sir Brucie', by the year end.

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!
