I SEEM to hit a nerve last week with my revelation that the council had not started the so called 'urgent' review of Airbourne, a month after the show ended!

Anyway, after some backtracking, and coverage on Southern Counties Radio, the BBC Politics Show and the Eastbourne Herald, it seems that the review will start this coming week! How about that!

The good news is that the council have now said tha
t it will be headed up by two councillors, Graham Marsden and Neil Stanley. It's great that Graham is leading this – when he says he'll do something, you can be sure you get a good job. I can't wait to see what they come up with.

Interestingly council Leader David Tutt was on TV on Sunday and didn't rule out resigning for the mess that was made. I doubt it will happen – he was still keen to blame council officers, but you never know. The most amazing thing is that the council still hasn't said that Airbourne is definitely on next year, and that it will be free. If they wanted to take some sting out of the tail of all this they'd announce that straight away – I can't understand why they don't; there's absolutely no reason at all not to.

I HAD a great night out in Brighton last Friday. Van Morrison was playing at the Dome, and was superb as always, even though he finished his gig at 9.30pm – obviously needed an early night (he's no spring chicken you know!)

Anyway, I had a pint in the North Lanes beforehand, and it was absolutely buzzing.

Eastbourne could learn a few lessons from this area. Of course we're no Brighton, nor would we want to be, Eastbourne has a uniqueness of its own – but there's a vibrancy about Brighton that is really attractive. And remember it's only a few weeks since the Daily Mail called Eastbourne 'newly fashionable'. With a bit of vision and investment, we could develop areas that would really compliment the new Town Centre development (if and when it happens - more on that soon).

Speaking of which Friday was the first time I've been to the Dome for ages – since Van Morrison was there last in fact. It's a wonderful venue now, and has benefited greatly from its investment; it just shows what can be done when a town has confidence and forward thinking leaders and investors. Just imagine some of our theatres having a real investment in their interior design – it would transform them, especially as the Congress will look even more shoddy when the Cultural Centre finally opens.

IF Gordon Brown is to be deposed, surely the Labour MPs who want him to go should put up another name to take his place? And unless there's a backbencher lurking somewhere who we've never heard of who can save them, I think they're out next time. If David Miliband, who keeps getting talked about as the next leader, is the answer to the question, then surely it's the wrong question.

It's probably best to Leave Gordon Brown where he is, after all he has as much chance of steering the UK through these bad economic times than any other Labour MP. And that's much more important than the internal strife of the Labour Party.

Have a good week friends.
