Anniversary Swing concert promises to be full of surprises

Swing Session

Swing Session

THE PAUL Davis Big Band and guests return for the 10th Anniversary Swing Session Concert at the Congress Theatre on July 1 (3pm).

Swing Session 10 presents the very best of the last 10 concerts and celebrates the musical magic of the 1940s and 1950s.

This wonderfully evocative and delightfully nostalgic event features special surprises and favourite guests from past concerts including Jacquie Toye, Sheila Tracey, Leanne Kyte and Eastbourne’s own Grant Martins.

Seventeen of London’s top musicians join The Paul Davis Big Band to bring the classic tunes of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, Count Basie and Stan Kenton back to the stage, played live, the way these enduring tunes deserve to be heard.

Vocalist Jacquie Toye has performed all over the world, including two years as the infamous Velma Kelly in the original West End production of Chicago.

Sheila Tracey also returns to the bill; Sheila is a hugely accomplished musician, broadcaster and journalist and returns to Eastbourne following her acclaimed performance in previous Swing Sessions.

She formed a vocal/trombone duo, The Tracy Sisters, who appeared on radio, television and in cabaret all over the world. When the act went their separate ways she joined the BBC.

Leanne Kyte and local singer Grant Martins complete the line up, Grant was regional winner in the British Resorts Search for a Star competition and performed in the National Final and is a regular entertainer in the South East.

Tickets cost £13.50/£14.50, call 412000.
