Rock soldiers set for debut performance
THEY created history by being the first group of serving soldiers to hit the British pop charts, and now they are making their debut performance in Eastbourne.
The Soldiers come to the Congress Theatre on Saturday 18 August 18, 7.30pm, for one night only,
They are soldiers first and foremost, having served in Afghanistan, Iraq and Kuwait. They are real life heroes, have several medals between them and can be called up at any time, yet these inspirational men have two top 10 albums and have raised over half a million pounds for army charities and are now touring the UK with this heart-warming show.
The Soldiers are: Sergeant Major Gary Chilton, Staff Sergeant Richie Maddocks and Lance Corporal Ryan Idzi, their story sounds like a movie script featuring a band of friends, world war zones, reality TV and hit albums.
The youngest, Ryan Idzi, reached the boot camp stage of 2007’s X Factor and was tipped to win until he succumbed to stage fright, yet it was his appearance in the ITV hit show and an email from music entrepreneur Jeff Chegwin and partner Nick Patrick, who already had their eye on two serving sergeants from the Corps Of Army Music, that started the ball rolling for The Soldiers.
Since forming, they have made musical history. Their two top 10 albums, Coming Home and Letters Home exceeded sales of 800,000 and they have performed for Her Majesty the Queen at the Royal Variety and at The Festival of Remembrance two years in a row.
