Prepare for some Pavilion mayhem

Three Bonzos and a Piano

Three Bonzos and a Piano

THREE Bonzos and a Piano, from the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band, perform at Hailsham Pavilion on May 21 (7.30pm). After originally breaking up in 1969, the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band reformed for a series of shows between 2006 and 2008.

Their lead vocalist Vivian Stanshall had died in 1995 so Ade Edmondson, Stephen Fry, and Paul Merton all made guest appearances filling Stanshall’s shoes.

In 2008 the band split again so Rodney Slater, Roger Ruskin Spear and Sam Spoons decided to continue the fun as the Three Bonzos and teamed up with super-pianist Dave Glasson to create more fun, music and subversive diversion in the spirit of the ageless band.

Robots, smoke, unsuitable medical technology, ancient theatrical props, the kitchen sink and the audience all combine to re-create the atmosphere of those formative years of the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band.

Tickets cost £20, call 841414.
