Performers prepare for musical morning
Jenny Beckwith
A MUSICAL variety show introducing some outstanding young talent accompanies the Under Ground Theatre coffee morning on August 4 (10am-noon), with pianist Jenny Beckwith at the helm.
Among the more experienced performers: Jenny herself will be teaming up with fellow-pianist Elizabeth Taylor.
As both soloists and as a duet, they’ll be playing a selection of classical and light-classical music, such as Brahms’ “Hungarian Dances”, and Bach’s “Toccata in D minor”.
There’ll be more much-loved music from violinist Annabel Sadler, including pieces from Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons” and Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake” – as well as the film theme from “Schindler’s List”.
Teenager Lawrence Gillians will be demonstrating his talent as a guitarist and a vocalist with a rock version of “Diamonds and Rust”, as well as classical songs including “Caro Mio Ben”.
Familiar tunes such as “The Camptown Races” are in the piano repertoire of young brother and sister Heli and Feitong Wilde , who’ll play both as soloists and as a duet.
And Beethoven’s “Ode To Joy” will feature as a violin duet from young sisters Hannah & Amy Elston. Amy Elston will also be playing a recorder for “Amazing Grace” and “When the Saints come Marching in”. Entry is free.
