Phoenix’s summer show
2007 proved a glorious year for one of England’s foremost current composers - John Rutter, for in that year he received a CBE in the New Year’s Honours list for his services to music. His joyous Magnificat will feature in Phoenix Choir’s summer concert. That year was also a happy celebration for Michael Fields, since this saw the premiere of his own composition Midsummer Mass.

Opera set the mould for G&S
The Eastbourne Gilbert & Sullivan Society is putting on The Sorcerer from Tuesday, May 7 to Saturday, May 11 at the Devonshire Park Theatre. The Sorcerer is the opera which set the mould for Gilbert and Sullivan. A lively story with all the usual characters, muddles and final happy ending.
Annual concert for the ESO
Some one hundred and sixty performers will take part in the annual choral concert of the Eastbourne Symphony Orchestra at 7.30pm on Sunday April 21in St Saviour’s Church, South Street.

Amazing Gerry appears
The amazing Garry Blakeley Band, following the delighted acclaim shown for their autumn ‘The Wheel of the Year’, present their fabulous new show, Celebrate! at The Under Ground Theatre on Wednesday, April 24 (7.30pm).The first half is a fusion of Thomas Hardy’s manuscripts and music and the second half fuses a ‘Jack in the Green’ tribute with folk music.
