EODS Productions are excited to announce their next musical which will be Sweeney Todd - The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim with book by Hugh Wheeler).
The show will open at the Devonshire Park Theatre on May 29-June 2 with matinees on Thursday and Saturday.
Under the direction of Sandra Tomlinson, with Carl Greenwood as musical director auditions will be held at Willingdon Community College, Broad Road, Willingdon on Sunday, January 13, with the opportunity to sing through the musical score on January 7 and 11 at EODS Centre, 96 Seaside, at 7.30pm each evening.
Sweeney Todd offers wonderful principal parts, and EODS are looking for strong actor-singers able to convey the emotion of the piece.
Team players with positive attitudes are required and Sandra will be treating this as an ensemble piece.
At audition the production team will be looking for good characterisation and vocal skills.
The ensemble/chorus will be made up of individual characters and will be fully used as the narrators of the story and as part of that story.
Sweeney Todd is a challenging and fantastic show with great harmonies, dramatic moments and opportunities for solos.
Rehearsals will commence of Wednesday, January 16, and will initially comprise Wednesday and Friday evenings as called.
Principals must also be prepared to rehearse on Monday evenings and some Sundays.
Everyone will need to be a fully paid up member of the Society to perform, payable no later than two weeks after the auditions have taken place. The current membership fee is £50.
