Rejoicing the life of Joyce Grenfell

Green Room Productions is delighted to present an amusing and affectionate tribute to the much-loved English comedienne, Joyce Grenfell.

Best remembered for her monologues, songs, and comic writings, Joyce Grenfell was an accomplished actress and starred in many well known films, including the original St Trinians along with George Cole, Alastair Sims and Frankie Howerd.

She was also a regular to television, radio and the stage, and entertained troops during the war with her wit, charm and humour.

It was in 1939 when her performance debut took place. After meeting radio producer Stephen Potter at a party and amusing him with an impersonation of the speaker she had seen at a local Women’s Institute meeting, she was persuaded to take part in a revue, The Little Revue - it was a huge success.

‘Just Joyce’ is a one-woman show (with a pianist) celebrating Joyce’s witty and wonderful writing. It promises to be an evening of nostalgia, fun and laughter.

Evening performances at the Under ground Theatre on August 22/23/24 with a Saturday matinee
