With a combination of traditional and new material played with rare virtuosity on violin, clarinet, accordion and double-bass, The London Klezmer Quartet performs at The Lamb Folk Club on Wednesday, June 19.
Featuring four of Europe’s most talented Klezmer musicians, the band demonstrates a deep understanding of, what is, the celebratory and soulful music of Eastern European Jews.
This is reflected in exuberant, passionate and accomplished performances that have captivated audiences of all ages and backgrounds, moving them from dancing, to tears and back again.
Formed in 2009, the band is already club and festival favourites in the UK, and have a major new following in Australia, headlining the National Folk Festival in Canberra.
Their new CD, “Welcome to Butterfield Green N16” has enjoyed rave reviews and fROOTS magazine described the band as “right at the creative forefront of what is now a serious Klezmer revival across Europe”.
Admission to the event is £6 on the door, all are welcome and the music starts at 8pm. The number for any enquiries is 728268.
