A jazz evening with a difference is instore when trumpet and flugelhorn player Andy Dickens makes his Under Ground Theatre debut on Friday, December 14, 8pm.
Whether playing cool relaxed jazz in a modern setting or providing sparkling trumpet fireworks with a New Orleans street band, Andy Dickens demonstrates an approach to jazz in the 21st century that not only reflects contemporary developments and nods to the future, but also embraces and sustains the essential traditions and history of the music.
Andy has been pulling in the crowds for more than twenty five years with a blend of fiery jazz, bluesy vocals, ballads and popular standards. So you should be prepared for an eclectic mix of styles from New Orleans to Miles Davis. Playing alongside him are Craig Milverton (piano), Tim Huskisson (clarinet), Brett Neville (bass) and Rod Brown on drums.
