When councillors were there for the good of the town

I am writing to you to express my concerns about some of the issues affecting our beautiful town.
On the spot fines for littering our streets I am in favour of, but as we are paying more in council tax than ever before, how about a rebate when a rate payer reports:
1 Street not swept
2 Drain not attended to
3 Grass verge is mown, but the grass left for everyone to walk in their homes, so bad that the grass spreads further and further – over the pavements, the roads etc. We may have beautiful
carpet gardens – it ends there.
4 Pavements are so bad in Meads, for example, that most people try to walk in the road and hope not to get run over.
I am an Eastbournian and have seen my town go down and down. To walk along Langney, Pevensey and Tideswell Roads and see all the wheely bins and rubbish makes me want to weep.
I once had a guest house in Langney Road. It was a busy, clean road, as were Pevensey and Tideswell. That was in the days when councillors were there for the good of the town.
