I write to commend our beach cleaning staff at Sita who work in partnership with Eastbourne Borough Council.

Last Saturday at 10pm I walked along the seafront and noted a copious amount of litter left by the public both on the beaches and on the promenade.
I picked up glass bottles and cans from the beach and put them into the many bins provided for our use.
I decided to take an early morning walk on the Sunday to see the staff clearing the detritus of the previous night. By 6.30am the beaches were clear and the staff were busy emptying the bins and bags they had filled.
I introduced myself to three of the workers to thank them for their amazing efforts. Here's further thanks to Christine, Colin and George and all the staff at Sita. Well done for keeping Eastbourne beautiful, but what a shame they have such a mammoth chore due to the public's constant littering.
