Re: £2 an hour for prime parking in Eastbourne. Beware!
Croydon council entered into a contract with NCP to run the car parks in the town centre and environs but, crucially, forgot to include a clause giving them (Croydon) control of the charges.
Five years on, the NCP have increased and increased the hourly charges to such a high level that the car parks are empty and shoppers prefer to take the 30 mile journey to Bluewater to shop where parking is free!
Let's hope Eastbourne built in a 'control of charges' clause or Eastbourne will soon be facing the same fate as Croydon!
