I have read your article 'Get your milk straight from the cow' – Herald, September 19 – and was dismayed that people are going to be put at risk.
Milk is pasteurised for a very good reason and I myself am witness to that as I contracted Brucellosis from drinking milk straight from the cow while on holiday in this country. I was only 12 but I can remember how ill I was and how lucky I was as this disease can be fatal. It has also left me unable to be a blood donor for the rest of my life. I understand farmers are having problems with the price they are paid for their milk but this idea is not one I would condone.
