With reference to your headlines last week about a stabbing in St Anne's Park, it was interesting to read that this was only an 'isolated incident'.
This comment was made by a leading police officer. This was the same park in which our Swiss student was attacked and punched to the ground last year, and if my memory serves me right there was another serious incident the previous year.
Anybody who
crosses this park, particularly in the warmer months, has to run the daily gauntlet of the same handful of lowlife who frequent the centre part.
These characters start their day with a short stroll from their 'refuge' in Enys Road to the off-licence where they stock up on high strength lager. On returning to the park they just drink themselves into oblivion and eventually this turns nasty,
usually ending up with 'Joe public' either being threatened or verbally and physically abused.
This has gone on for several years now, preventing young children from playing around the middle section and only on one occasion have I seen the police in the park – this despite making several complaints.
It is about time our local police force stopped
burying their heads in the sand and started to patrol these public places more frequently before a real tragedy occurs.
