Interference in the process?
Published Date:
30 September 2008
Let's be clear about one thing: the Lib Dems inherited a financial shambles from the outgoing Tory administration, as was reported in newspaper columns at the time.
The notion of some sort of Lib Dem -Tory financial continuity is, therefore, specious.
The second thing to be clear on is that parking was a major plank of the Lib Dems' campaign at last year's council elections and was decided not by a consultation exercise but a ballot box. County's claim to a mandate on parking is, therefore, equally specious.
Worse still, county's almost vindictive pursuit of the matter could be seen as blatant interference in the democratic process. – S Jackson, Second Avenue, Bexhill-on-Sea.
