We are writing to correct two errors which appeared in your 'Focus on health issues' article (August 8 2008).
In the story about East Sussex Hospitals Trust carrying out more work than expected in the first quarter of the financial year, you stated that the cost of treatments was 67 per cent more than our planned budget. The difference is, in fact, between s
ix and seven per cent.
This issue is currently being looked into in detail to establish why more people need hospital
treatment and we will be taking the appropriate action in due course.
Secondly, in the story about the level of sick leave for East Sussex Downs and Weald Primary Care Trust staff you reported that almost 12 per cent of staff were absent with stress related
illnesses.
This figure only applies to PCT administrative staff, who only make up around 420 of the 1,370 strong workforce at East Sussex Downs and Weald PCT.
The sick rate across all PCT staff is currently 6.84 per cent.
The PCT is adopting the Health and Safety Executive's standards on managing stress in the workplace to ensure we are giving everyone who works for us the support they may need
