I have to write and compliment the council and all concerned in the wonderful spectacle that is Airbourne.
Once again there is a minority that make every attempt to sway public opinion against the event, well not me.
Last year the event was free and there were complaints about taxpayers having to subsidise the event. This year there is a charge and guess
what – there are complaints that people who attend the event have to pay. I am not sure but I don't think that the residents of Wembley get subsidised tickets just because the venue is in their backyard.
I am sure at the time of writing this letter there will be others picking up their quills and dusting off their ink wells to scribe letters of complaint because the event was too noisy, scary and that they couldn't park their sensible cars outside their homes – no doubt the same residents who are still complaining about the noise of the seagulls at the seaside.
A small wager is riding on the date of the first letter pointing out that the event will be described as a glorified warmongers boot sale.
Here is to 2009; more planes, more visitors, bigger and louder fireworks and most of all more complaints. Chocks Away! –
Keith King, Bourne Street, Eastbourne.
