We were considering visiting Eastbourne for a weekend break at the end of November, with the intention of parking at the hotel and touring and visiting the local area.
There are 10 persons in our party, non oaps who work during the week, for whom
transport is essential. As the hotel we were considering, Shearing's Burlington, has limited parking facilities we thought it prudent to check out the parking facilitie
s in the area, as it does say that there is street parking.
It came as some
surprise to find that by that time there will be no parking unless chargeable for hotel visitors to the area and at approximately £8 per day in a local car park.
After ringing the hotel we have been told that there are parking meters outside the hotel which are covered up at the moment. Not much of an incentive to visitors, especially in view of all the many negative write-ups on the Internet regarding fines etc.
Sadly Eastbourne its a big thumbs down for a potential visitor –
surely with Eastbourne's hotel industry there should be free parking permits for the hotel visitors?
We are concerned if we come to Eastbourne we may not be able to park near the hotel, and if we did come how much would it cost us?
I'm sure we are not the only ones.
