Can't understand the fury

I have to agree that the barricades on the seafront are ugly, and that the traffic congestion caused by the event is dreadful.
I have absolutely no interest in this event at all; I may glance at the sky as something flies by but that's about it.
What I can't understand is this fury at the £5 charge. Is there anything else you can go to for hours and only pay £5? You quoted two people staying at The Grand objecting. Unbelieveable. What do they get for £5 there? And the couple from Hertfordshire whose day had been 'ruined' by the charge. Pathetic.
The council has explained why they have had to impose this nominal charge, so it seems perfectly clear to me. Go along, pay your money and enjoy the show, watch it from another location or ignore it. Just don't moan and complain, it will only ruin your day. – Les Valder, Whitley Road, Eastbourne.
