For some time now my wife and I have realised that we needed to drastically reduce the amount of items we have accumulated over 48 years of marriage.
With virtually no experience of boot fairs we decided to run a stall and donate the proceeds to the East Sussex Wildlife Rescue and Ambulance Service.
Getting up at 4.30am for a 6am start was a culture shock and our elderly dog experienced similar reservations about the small space allocated to him in a crowded car for the short drive to the field.
As a resilient lurcher he soon adapted to the routine.
Since May we have participated in 11 boot fairs and raised £517.63 for WRAS. This has been achieved by the excellent organisation at Cophall and Rainbow Farms, the camaraderie of fellow stallholders, our many customers and all those who kindly gave monetary contributions, especially the generous donation by Marie Stenham. Our sincere thanks to all concerned.
Trevor Weeks and his helpers are held in great respect and affection in Sussex and we hope that our experience may encourage others to support this amazing and compassionate registered charity that does so much for injured or distressed wildlife. – Malcolm and Brenda, (name and address supplied).
