I have recently started tracing my family tree of Burtons and have discovered my grandfather was originally from Sussex, and came from a very large family.
He emigrated in 1924 to Canada where he drowned in 1933. My grandmother, who was from Scotland, then brought the family back here to settle.
I would love to hear from any descendants of William Henry Burton, born 1872 (Eastbourne), and Maria Agnes Flint, born 1871 (Jevington). The places mentioned in the census are Seaford, West Dean, Ashburnham, Jevington and Eastbourne. – Carolyn Burton, 9 Kennelburn Road, Chapelhall, Lanarkshire, Scotland, Ml6 8TG, e-mail carolynwinning@
