07/05/08: I'll stagger up drive with bin

We see that after a long consultation (we don't know with whom), Lewes District Council has decided that our rubbish can no longer be collected from the back of our house.
We are sorry that the bin men do not feel able to walk the 12 metres down the drive with their wheeled containers which presumably protect their backs.
I am a five feet tall pensioner, but I will stagger up the drive with the heavy bin in order to save them 15 seconds. Would they like me to also put it into the cart to save another five seconds?
However, it's not all bad news, as we can now look forward to the reduction in our council tax as we will be doing 4/5ths of their job for them. – Mrs C Osborne, Alfriston Road, Seaford.

Veracity,

Heathfield 07/05/2008 10:18:12
It's not just your 15 seconds that are saved. Multiply that by the hundreds of bins they empty and it's a big time saving! Most of us have been putting the bins out front for over 20 years! Welcome to the world.
