Wealden District Council is carrying out a survey to identify areas which may be suitable to build on in an effort to meet the government's long-term housing targets.
A report outlining the potential amount of land available for housing in the dis
trict would then be published. Land included in the survey would not definitely be allocated for housing.
Landowners, agents or people who know of any site which may be suitable for housing are being invited to take part in the study. The closing date for submitting sites is Friday (October 3).
Cllr Roy Galley, Wealden's cabinet member for housing delivery, said, "We have had an encouraging response from landowners, agents and members of the public coming forward with potential development sites for housing.
"But there is still time for more to be included. Identification of this land does not in any way mean a commitment to development.
"The objective is to have as much information as possible in order for the community to make decisions later.
Cllr Galley added that once the survey of available land was completed, the next stage would involve consultation with residents next year.
He said, "By then we hope to be able to outline what options we prefer but we will also be ready to listen to alternative approaches should they be put forward."
An online form for submitting potential housing sites can be found on Wealden's website, www.wealden.gov.uk
