HAILSHAM Old Pavilion Society (HOPS) held its annual walk in glorious sunshine on Sunday afternoon (September 28).
Around 40 people took part and the weather was a great contrast to the HOPS golf day held three weeks ago in pouring rain.

Debbie and Martin Patrick organised the four-mile walk from Arlington Reservoir which took in Cobb Court, Mays Farm and Selmeston Church before returning to the reservoir via Berwick railway station.

Martin pointed out interesting facts and features along the route for the 30 adults and 10 children on the walk — the youngest of which was just three years old.

HOPS president June Bourne was waiting at the end of the route with cups of tea and coffee and homemade cakes. Around £70 was raised, with all proceeds going to support Hailsham Pavilion.

The society's next fundraising event is a quiz night next Friday (October 10) at 7.30pm in Hailsham Community Hall. Teams of between four and six are welcome. Entrance is £6 to include a ploughman's supper. To book ring Margaret on 762544.
