FIFTY members of Hellingly Rugby Club braved blustery conditions for a seven-mile run along Eastbourne seafront.
The group, which included players from the senior side, youth team and girls and women's teams, started from the Southern Water treatment works at Langney Point and ran to Holywell and back, enduring strong headwinds on the outward leg.
The run was organised by Pete Hodd, the club's director of rugby, to raise desperately needed funds to replace the boilers at the clubhouse.
And thanks to the sponsorship of the individual runners, organisers of the run hope their target of £1,000 has been achieved.
Reflecting the family ethos of the club, the event saw mothers and fathers running with sons and daughters.
The club was also supported by Ian Bates, proprietor of one of the club's main sponsors, local estate agents Bates and Co.
Despite him being one of the more mature runners, Ian managed to clock up the third fastest time of the morning.
