PLANS for a mobile phone mast in Upper Horsebridge will be decided by councillors tomorrow (Thursday).
Vodafone wants to build the 12-metre (40 feet) tall mast on a verge along Upper Horsebridge Road, next to Crouch Hall.

District councillor John Blake decided to bring it to tomorrow's meeting of Wealden's planning committee as he felt it was too close to the hall where several scout, cub and beaver groups meet.

Local resident Karen Barr, of Cuckmere Close, wrote to the council to object to the plans.

She told the Gazette, "About 90 boys use that hall and they hadn't a clue about it.

"Not enough research has been done on the effect of radation emission from mobile phone masts.

"I know we all use mobiles but you've got a lot of empty space locally. i don't know why it needs to be so near housing and the scout hall."

Anyone with comments, either for or against the plans, should get their views into Wealden District Council by the end of today (Wednesday) ahead of Thursday morning's meeting.

For more information visit Wealden's website www.wealden.gov.uk or ring 443322.
