A COMPANY director charged with
manslaughter will stand trial later this year.
Colin Cooper, 47, of Tilehurst Drive, Hailsham, is the owner of IC Roofing, based at the Hackhurst Lane industrial estate, Lower Dicker.

He was charged after a two-year investigation into the death of employee Darren Hoofe.

Mr Hoofe, 20, had been carrying out roofing repairs at the Bellbrook Industrial Estate in Uckfield in November 2005 when he plunged 20 feet to his death through a skylight.

Mr Cooper, 47, of Tilehurst Drive, Hailsham, was charged on April 30 with manslaughter and offences under the Health and Safety at Work Act.

A police spokesperson told the Gazette Mr Cooper would be appearing in court in five weeks' time, when a date for his trial will be set.
