A HOLIDAY farmhouse near Herstmonceux has been nominated for a prestigious tourism award.
The Hovel and the Hop House, in Windmill Hill, is up for best self-catering holiday in Tourism South East's Tourism ExSEllenceAwards.

The three-bedroom converted farmhouse will be fighting Caswell House in Brize Norton, Oxfordshire, Isle of Wight
Luxury Apartments in Newport and South Winchester Lodges in Hampshire for the award.

The winners will be announced at a glittering gala dinner at the exclusive Wentworth Club in Surrey on October 28.

Winners in this region go on to compete in the national Enjoy England Awards for Excellence in 2009.

With a total of 15 award categories, the Tourism ExSEllence Awards are rated as the premier awards for the tourism industry in the south east.

They cover a range of tourism organisations from small bed and breakfasts to large exclusive hotels and visitor attractions.

Robert Collier, chief executive of Tourism South East, said, "This year the standard is higher than ever. We are absolutely delighted with the number and quality of entrants and would like to congratulate all who have been shortlisted, including the Hovel and the Hop House.

"We look forward to seeing them on October 28 when we announce the final results."
