A DONKEY derby is to be held as part of a community fun day on June 15.

The event, at the Maurice Thornton Playing Fields in Vega Close, is being organised by the Square Youth Cafe and will also include a fun fair and a selection of stalls.
It will help raise money for youngsters at the Square Youth Cafe to take another trip to Kabbubu in Uganda to help with the work of the Hailsham-based Quicken Trust charity.
Last year, a group from The Square went to Kabbubu and came away with a better understanding and recognition of the challenges faced by the people over there.
The money raised from the fun day will enable more young people from Hailsham to visit Kabbubu in 2009 and make a life changing trip.
If you would like to name and sponsor a donkey in a Donkey Derby for £10, or sponsor a race for £50, call Geraldine or Andy on 841702, during office hours.
There are also limited pitches available for stalls at the cost of £20 each.
