A NEW sewage works could be built close to Arlington Reservoir.
The idea formed part of East Sussex County Council's Waste and Minerals Core Strategy, which also included the plan for land raise rubbish sites.
But it has been met with criticism by local Liberal Democrats, who fear it would lead to treated sewage flowing into the River Cuckmere.
Polegate and Upper Dicker MP Norman Baker said, "I am opposed to any plan that involves discharging treated sewage into the Cuckmere. I will be supporting local people to stop any plan that damages our countryside."
