Two traditional African stories are to be presented at the Under Ground Theatre tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon in a highly energetic and colourful show that's perfect for children aged from four to 12 and their families (show 2pm, workshop at 3.30pm).
Kobokoto Theatre brings together storyteller and drummer Jeanette Hodgson, and West African musician and dancer, Suliman Compo.

Be prepared for electrifying drumming rhythms and the haunting sound of unfamiliar instruments, as well as traditional
dances and songs.

In the Zulu tale, No, Bocono, No, the central character wants, more than anything else in the world, to dance at a wedding.

But it's a struggle – as he is too small and doesn't have a spear.

In The Bride's Necklace, a tale from Kenya, a hyena, a bee and a crocodile help to complete seemingly impossible tasks set by a king to prevent the marriage of his daughter to a poor man.

The show will be followed by a workshop, that promises to give children the opportunity to explore rhythm through drumming in a fun and relaxed environment.

Tickets cost £5, or £7.50 for the show and workshop.

Call 01323 737677 or buy at any UGT event; or from Mr and Mrs Doak's Bumper Bookshop, 35 Grove Road, telephone 737110; or from the Tourist Information Centre in Cornfield Road; or, if still available, on the door.
